Confessions of a Tea Company Owner

Hi!  Let me reintroduce myself before we get down to my deep, dark secret. I’m Chris and in a previous life (before motherhood), I was a pharmacist. These days you can find me packing up loose leaf tea and shipping them out to all corners of the country! A big change, you say? Well, yes and no. There’s a surprising amount of overlap—lots of weighing out and counting and peeling and sticking (old pharmacy slang for labeling prescriptions). And while I’m no longer doling out lifesaving medicines, I’m pretty sure that I now dole out happiness in a cup!

Here’s another fun fact about me…I don’t think that I’m one to stand on ceremony. What do I mean by that? Well, what you see is what you get with me. Not a lot of tiptoeing around here. I like what I like and I usually don’t apologize for it. Which brings me to the confession. Are you ready? Are you sitting on the edge of your seat yet? Ok. Here it is.

I. Love. Coffee. There. I said it. I love the smell of it. I love the taste of it (cream and a little sugar, please). I just love everything about it. I get pods of it shipped to me each month (hmmm, maybe we should start a subscription program for Buckhead Tea Company, too?). I just can’t help it. I love coffee.

Well isn’t that against the rules?, you ask? Don’t you have to be either Team Coffee OR Team Tea?, you ask? I’m here to tell you, no. I’m Team Coffee AND Team Tea. I drink a cup of coffee most mornings because I like it. The rest of the day you will find me toting around a big ole travel mug full of hot tea (currently our Earl Grey Oolong ‘cuz yum!) because, darn it, I love it. No one ever said you can only like lemonade or iced tea. You can like both!

To me, tea is soothing and mellow. It’s what I long for when I’m looking for that peaceful feeling. It’s what I use to chase that oily meal. I love the variety that’s available—caffeine or no, flowery or no, strong or delicate.

So don’t let anyone box you in. You can love coffee AND you can love tea at the Same. Darned. Time.
